RADIO BROADCASTER _ PRODUCER

In addition to hosting & producing JAZZ BOULEVARD, and developing CINQ-FM programs 'THE EARTH LOUNGE' & 'THE DIGITAL LIFE SHOW' (still an occasional contributor) ... Moz has produced documentaries and pilots for broadcast projects in Canada and the US.

"OH CANADA" RADIO DOCUMENTARY

While living in New Hampshire, I was having banana pancakes at my favorite diner in Putney Vermont one day, when I came across this ad in the Advocate for an upcoming all-day-concert in Look Park, MA, called 'Oh Canada.'

Tuned to the psyche of Canadians, I knew the idea of Americans imitating Canadians would be, well ... catnip for an ecletic pop culture show like CBC's Definitely Not The Opera ... and indeed it was. One phone call later they were anxiously awaiting a script.

Here then is the 'famous' long-lost documentary, which enjoyed broadcast locally on stations in New England and repeat coast-to-coast broadcasts across Canada on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's radio network. (9:09)

"VOICE OF THE WILD" - RADIO PILOT

National Public Radio is a highly valued cultural institution across the US. While living in the US, I was part of a development project, with a colleague, to create a literary series for radio.

This is the pilot produced on the theme of 'The Wolf' (Exec. Producer, Theme, Sound Design, Production)

The narrator is Tom Rush. (12:30)

"ROBBIE BURNS DINNER" - RADIO DOCUMENTARY

Scottish Voice, on 102.3fm in Montreal is a long standing and respected Celtic culture program hosted by Janet Stubbert.

One year, with the annual Robbie Burns dinner approaching, she asked if I would be interested in producing a documentary on the dinner for her show. Standing among kilts and contemplating eating Haggis, I found myself in a somewhat foreign culture.

However the program has continued to enjoy the documentary produced, which has seen several broadcasts on the show. (19:06)

FESTIVALS PROFILE - RADIO DEMO

Currently located back in my home town of Montreal, I was looking for other production ideas when I came across the idea of producing a number of profiles on the various festivals Montreal sees every year. Maybe it's the fact that we have winter for 3-4 months, but summertime Montreal explodes with a seemingly endless number of festivals.

Below is a pilot of what such a profile might sound like. The festival in question is one that has disappeared over the years – the Montreal International Celtic Festival (MICF).

COMPOSER _ SOUND DESIGNER

Following his music degree, Taylor became active in the Montreal Contemporary Dance scene scoring several choreographies with performances at L'Agora De La Danse, Place Des Arts, and Toronto's fFIDA Dance Festival. A few excerpts follow ...

SIRENE

Writing for dance is a fabulous creative process. It allows me to draw on everything 'sonic' I've been involved in – from straight ahead musical composition (in this case, cello & piano) to digital sound creation, sound design & sound effects.

SIRENE was a collobrative project with
choreographer Lee Anholt.

Excerpt

DESIR OBSCUR

After a performance of SIRENE, I was approached by choreographer Claude Pilon and asked if I'd be interested in working with him on an hour long piece he was developing.

That project ...'Désir Obscur' was presented at Montreal's flagship performance center – Place Des Arts and was another fusion of traditional instruments with digital soundscaping and special effects.

HOMEFRONT

Lee and I worked on another project at L'Agora de la Danse – this time with a WWII theme. Besides composition, a number of old-time radio ads were dropped into the soundtrack and processed digitally to help create the feeling of the era.

That's Lee and I as the 'lost soldiers' off in the

SINGER _ SONGWRITER

While he has been writing all his life, during a period residing in the US, Moz wrote, performed & produced (along with some of Montreal and New York city's finest) his debut CD - LET IT FLOW – which drew on musical influences from rock, pop and jazz.

OUT OF NOWHERE

Out of Nowhere is a sort of prayer to the great beyond to help get out of being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The track features some awesome work from Montrealers
Ron di Lauro (Tp) and singer Kim Richardson.

MYTH OF LORELEI

The song of the sirens lured sailors to their death and as probably more than one man has discovered, the lure of the Borderline holds equally irresistable appeal.

Olivier Demers (Vl) added the vital 'death note' at the end.

FILM-TV _ VIDEO

Given his documentary film background, Moz has always been around documentary film and doc filmmakers. Below are some projects related to professional and personal interests.

HERE I AM, SEND ME: THE JOURNEY OF JONATHAN DANIELS

While living in Walpole New Hampshire, I met filmmakers from Keene NH developing a documentary on
their town's native son: Jonathan Daniels ... who was killed while marching with Dr. Martin Luther King in Selma, Alabama during the American Civil Rights movement.

Originally brought on to write music, it became clear that I also had a lot to contribute to the sound design of the film.

So finally, in addition to composing and playing on the track, I took over the film's sound design, narration editing (due to personal interests Sam Waterston of Law & Order was our narrator) and final mix.

Here Am I, Send Me:

ALAIN PIROIR - PRINTMAKER (Work In Progress)

Alain Piroir, a French printmaker, is currently based in Montreal, Quebec.

A personal project, I started shooting footage of Alain for a documentary I hoped to make on him.

As a preliminary product, I put together a doc on Alain taking apart one of his massive presses for shipment back to Montreal (from Lyon, France).

With only a spanner Alain takes apart this huge beast of a press – a press of his own design.
