16 – When the program celebrated its 5th year back in 2009, SUSIE
ARIOLI made a special appearance as a Guest Co-Host. This weekend's
podcast revisits that show.
JULY 09 – With
the PARC-X TRIO recently winning the TD GRAND JAZZ AWARD at this
year's MONTREAL INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL, the July 9th podcast
is a re-broadcast of the April 10th, 2009 show when members of
the PARC-X Trio were on the program.

2010: As summer settles
into Montreal, guest host 'BIG-D' returns to replace a vacationing
Moz Taylor. New podcasts of Jazz Boulevard will return in a couple
of weeks.

International Jazz Festival starting this weekend, tonight's show
looks at artists appearing at this year's 31st edition.

performing July 2nd at the MIJF as well as LAURENT SAULNIER - VP
Programming & Production - taking a look behind the scenes at putting
together the nearly 800 concerts taking place.

GILLIS – On tonight's show, in Hour One we feature an interview
with NATHALIE BONDIL, Director
of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, discussing the launch of a major
summer long exhibit on Miles Davis.

Hour Two – with a fabulous new show at L'Agora De La Danse this
week and next – FILATURES – we sit down with Canadian modern
dance legend, MARGIE GILLIS to look at the subject of IMPROV from a very
different
perspective ... when your instrument isn't a piano or a horn, but instead

is jazz concert programming coming from an up and coming 'new' jazz
venue in Point St. Charles called Le Diable a Quatre. Regular Wednesday
jam sessions have grown into some serious jazz programming. I dropped
by this week's jam session to find Dave Turner and Cameron Wallis jamming
along with house regulars.
Tonight you can hear my interview with Thomas Durant – 1/2 of the team
responsible for the programming (along with partner Kyle Morin) talking

CD on Justin Time Records – Treelines – a jazz orchestra
project featuring her sister, renown trumpet player Ingrid Jensen.
Later in the show, we sample some new music including the latest
project from Lionel Loueke - MWALIKO.
Christine
performs 'treelines' with her Jazz Orchestra featuring her sister,
Ingrid Jensen on Friday February 19th at Gesu 8pm ... as part of

Horvey & Nozen). Other artists on Malasartes will be performing as

press launch at Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill, Moz Taylor sat down
to talk with Alain Bedard - President of the label. Hear the interview

ENSEMBLE perform at the L'Astral Room Tuesday, September 22nd. On
tonight's program we interview one of its members, Gabriel Hubert

: Tonight
Jazz Boulevard is dedicated to the memory of Len Dobbin. We feature
a special opening set tribute to Len with a clip of the celebrated
'Friend of Jazz' himself opening his last show (special thanks
to CKUT-FM for re-broadcast rights).ABOVE – Andre
Menard, Co-founder & Artistic Director of the Montreal International
Jazz Festival dedicates the remainder of the festival to Len.
Later
in the program, we feature an interview with West African Guitarist
Lionel Loueke performing at this year's Montreal International Jazz Festival.
JULY09 : LEN
DOBBIN (1935 - 2009) The Montreal
Jazz
community was shocked today to discover that long time broadcaster Len Dobbin
passed away early this morning. Len had been doing what he enjoys most, taking
in a concert at a local jazz club, when he suffered what became a fatal stroke.
It was what seems only a few hours earlier that Len and I had been talking at
the press room of the Montreal International Jazz Festival – he was all
that he has always been as we talked about this year’s shows. It is hard
to believe that he is no longer there. My most sincere condolences to Len's family – it
is a great loss to the Montreal Jazz community. (more information)
